Vincent C. Hung, MD, MOHS Surgery, Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, Cosmetic Surgery

A forehead or brow lift is a simple and straightforward surgical procedure designed to recontour your forehead to restore a more vibrant, alert, and youthful appearance.

Dr. Vincent C. Hung is a highly respected and experienced board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He is dedicated to providing patients in both Pasadena, California and Newport Beach, California with the highest quality cosmetic surgery procedures, including brow lifts.

What Can a Brow Lift Achieve?

By lifting the forehead and brow, Dr. Hung can restore the natural arch and position your eyebrows had when you were younger.

This procedure can reduce or eliminate the appearance of forehead creases and frown lines for beautiful and natural-looking results.

Tightening excess forehead skin also helps firm droopy upper eyelids and corrects a furrowed brow, making you look younger, more rested, and alert.

Benefits of Mohs Surgery

What Are My Brow Lift Options?

Traditional Brow Lift

A traditional brow lift uses an incision made across the top of the forehead just behind the hairline to remove excess tissue, adjust muscles and tighten the forehead skin.

Endoscopic Brow Lift

An endoscopic brow lift employs a thin tubular camera and requires three to five small incisions along the hairline. By using the cameras to gain a better visual, Dr. Hung can tighten the forehead tissues and raise without needing the longer, traditional brow lift incision.

Anesthesia and Hospital Stay

Brow lifts are typically performed on an outpatient basis with local anesthesia plus sedation or general anesthesia. General anesthesia patients may have the option of staying overnight in our comfortable surgery center.

Combined With Other Surgeries

A brow lift is an excellent procedure to combine with eyelid surgery or a facelift for complete facial rejuvenation.

What Can You Expect After a Forehead or Brow Lift?

Recovery

How Long Is My Recovery After a Brow Lift?

You should be back to work or your normal daily activities within seven to 10 days, usually sooner after an endoscopic brow/forehead lift.

Avoid more strenuous activities for at least six weeks, or when cleared by Dr. Hung. Full recovery from bruising should occur between two and three weeks. Limit sun exposure for several months.

Results

When Will I See My Brow Lift Results?

The results of this procedure are visible immediately after surgery. Swelling should slowly subside and resolve completely within a month or two, and you can expect your incision scars to fade nicely over time.

After a few short months, you will be able to appreciate the final results of your forehead (brow) lift.

Long-lasting results are predicted with this surgery. However, sun protection is crucial to maintain them.

Practicing a healthy lifestyle will also help extend your results, usually lasting up to ten years.

Scars

Does a Brow Lift Leave Scars?

Brow lift scars are known to heal well and are hidden in the hairline. However, scarring can be unpredictable. Follow all of Dr. Hung’s post-op instructions to help promote better healing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does it take to perform a forehead (brow) lift?

A brow lift procedure usually takes one to two hours.

  • How is a brow lift different from eyelid surgery?

A forehead (brow) lift addresses forehead lines and creases, raises droopy or furrowed eyebrows, and can somewhat improve the appearance of the upper eyelids. Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) focuses on tightening wrinkles and sagging skin on the upper and lower lids while treating under eye bags. Combining a brow lift and eyelid surgery is common and can provide stunning results.

  • Does a brow lift hurt?

You shouldn’t feel any pain during the procedure. However, you will likely experience some mild discomfort. Dr. Hung can prescribe any necessary pain medicine, and using a cold compress also helps with soreness and swelling.

  • Are there any risks or side effects involved with a forehead (brow) lift?

Common (but temporary) side effects may include swelling, numbness, headaches, and bruising. With the traditional method, you may also experience some itching and possible hair loss.

Rare but serious complications include injury to the facial nerve, infection, or excessive scarring.
