As the years pass, people often reminisce about a time before the development of wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin. Facelift surgery, also known as rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that addresses visible signs of aging in the midface to restore a youthful appearance.

Achieved With Facelift Surgery

As we age, our facial skin can loosen and develop wrinkles. The muscles in our neck also begin to weaken. While facelift surgery cannot stop the natural aging process, it can restore youthful contours, making you appear much younger.

Sagging skin and jowls that have developed around the face and neck can cause a person to look older than they are. Facelift surgery can address these problems by tightening the muscles in these areas to create a smoother facial appearance.

Many patients struggling with facial imperfections like wrinkles and fine lines may feel self-conscious about their appearance. Facelift surgery can improve your overall appearance and self-esteem.

Benefits of Mohs Surgery

Your Facelift Procedure

Consultation

Most patients who undergo facelift surgery are over the age of 40 and wish to remedy visible signs of aging. Dr. Hung will examine your medical history and the condition of your face to determine the best approach to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

Technique

During your procedure, an incision is made on the hairline near the temple that continues behind the ear and ends in the lower scalp. The sagging tissue is tightened, excess skin is removed, and the remaining skin is repositioned to create a more youthful appearance. Dr. Hung will close the incision using surgical sutures.

Combination

Facelift surgery is frequently done in conjunction with procedures like eyelid surgery. Dr. Hung may also recommend combining your procedure with brow lift surgery to treat deep creases or frown lines along the upper portion of your face.

Recovery

Following your facelift, you will experience some temporary bruising and swelling that should resolve after a few weeks. It is important to avoid exposure to sunlight for several months to facilitate healing and minimize the visibility of any scarring. Be sure to avoid strenuous activities for at least two weeks. Typically, patients are able to return to work two weeks after the surgery unless instructed otherwise by Dr. Hung.

Results

You can expect long-lasting results that can endure for up to 10 years. Final results will become apparent a few months after your facelift surgery.

Scars

Scarring will vary based on the techniques used during your procedure, but any visible scarring can usually be hidden with makeup and will likely fade over time.

Pain

Dr. Hung will prescribe medication to help minimize any pain or discomfort.
